What about the quality of our 100% concrete's furniture ? +

On the market, you’ll find more and more of furnitures «concrete way».

It is most frequently products  based of resin, with the sensation of touch plastic. Some others simply apply a finish “imitation concrete” on a wood or medium structure. No guarantee for outdoor and no emotion in the touch.

Our furniture is 100% concrete. It is hand made. We have given careful attention to the finishing of our products. Although they are made of concrete, it is none the less furniture on which you are going to eat, put your hi-fi equipment, share a drink, put your books… furniture on which your kids will play, draw. We are not manufacturers of concrete that we would  launched into the furniture. We are designers who work movable concrete. And this is an important distinction!

This is a fiber – lightweight concrete (less than 2 tonnes per m3). Its structure is reinforced by a steel frame. Based from  natural materials (cement, sand, water, steel fibers), it is made by hand and finished in a succession of steps carefully developed. Pores, micro-cracks, possible variations in color are inherent in the material used and its application in industrial work. They give your furniture charm and  its unique appearance.

    Concrete : maintenance and care ? +

Suitable for indoor as well as outdoor under temperate conditions. Clean with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Rince and wipe dry.

For a better protection, we recommend that you regularly apply the following products: wax or water repellent / oil repellent for natural stone, marble or concrete.

We do sell a Protection and Care Kit for concrete furniture by Lithofin.

During the winter : how to protect my furniture outside ? +

If you use our furniture outside, we urge you to put in shelter during the “off season” under a veranda or ideally in a dry location. Don’t forget to clean, air dry prior the furnitures.

If you leave your furniture outside during this period, it is imperative to cover it with a protective cover 100 % polyester coated with water-repellent : a waterproof, breathable, UV-resistant. You will find this type of covers in all DIY stores.

Nuclear plant : how to clean saltpeter ? +

Saltpeter is a layer created by the accumulation of mineral salts on high humidity porous surfaces. It is a natural physical phenomenon.
The presence of saltpeter is due to high humidity, stagnant water or over-watering.

    1. Clean the product with a brush followed by hot water with detergent. It is recommended to use Marseille soap.  You can also use highly diluted bleach.
    2. Brush with a wire wool.
    3. Rinse with clean water. (Optional: soak the product in vinegar water. Clean again with a big wire wool and rinse with clean water.
    4. Dry.
    5. Remove the remaining saltpeter with a dry wire wool.
    6. With a piece of cloth, apply 2 layers of the following mixture at 24-hour interval: 1/3 turpentine oil and 2/3 linen oil.

Do not overload. Make sure it is evenly spread and luster the product to allow the linen oil to penetrate deeply.

Prevention: how to avoid the formation of saltpeter?

To lastingly remove saltpeter, you can use an effective anti-saltpeter solution which protect the substances from deterioration caused by water, frost and weatherization.

Anti-saltpeter can be applied with a brush from the bottom to the top or with a spray by saturating the substance.  As a preventive measure, the use of an anti-saltpeter product acts as a capillary barrier to prevent moisture from wicking upwards and has the advantage of being applicable on wet surfaces.
